IV Fluids

IV (intravenous) fluids are included in nearly all surgeries. IV fluids help us to maintain bloodpressure throughout the surgery, as well as to flush the anesthetic from your pet’s body faster than if your pet had to do it on its own. All pets undergoing a major surgery receive an IV catheter, which gives us access to their bloodstream in case of an emergency. Should an emergency occur, or if the pet’s bloodpressure drops below a safe range, fluids are automatically started.
